We are running several 1 day raku taster courses this year:-

16th August
27th September

Courses are held at our West Wales Studio - near Carmarthen

The day starts at 9:30 with a brief introduction to RAKU.

You will glaze and decorate your own pots, which you will bring with you (which need to be made out of suitable clay (Raku or Crank)) with our raku glazes we make up to our own recipes.  We do sell a range of bisque fired bowls from us, please enquire.

By 12 noon the kiln will be on with the first batch of pots being fired. While the kiln is heating up for the first time we will have a simple lunch (which we provide). Following lunch we will take the pots from the kiln RED HOT and submerge them in saw dust or paper. It's in the sawdust that the magic happens - the sawdust causes the glaze to crackle and the unglazed areas to blacken. The whole process is immediate and is an exciting way to fire pots!

We will aim to be finished by 4:30 but if we are mid firing we will obviously finish it.

The cost of the course is £70 per person
